The Ghanta Awards

The Ghanta Awards

The Ghanta Awards (now in its fourth year) one of Bollywood’s many award shows, mirroring Hollywood’s Golden Raspberry Awards (or the Razzies,) took place at the prestigious JW Marriott hotel in Juhu, Mumbai Friday evening. Unlike the shortage of red carpet revelers as noted in the show’s previous years, this year’s star turnout celebrating the worst Bollywood had to offer us last year was quite impressive with the likes of actor Arshad Warsi and his wife Maria Goretti, TV host Mini Mathur, honoree Riteish Deshmukh, actor & activist Kunal Kapoor and actress Archana Puran Singh among others in attendance. The event was hosted by comedians from the ‘East India comic group.’ This year’s presiding jury included noted film reviewers Rajeev Masand (film critic, CNN-IBN), Rahul Desai (film critic, Mumbai Mirror), Sudhish Kamath (film critic, The Hindu) et. al. The winners were selected by the masses.

The Winner’s Included:

Worst Film: Himmatwala

Worst Director: Sajid Khan

Worst Actor: Prateik Babbar (Issaq)

Worst Actress: Priyanka Chopra (Zanjeer)

Worst Couple for Dhoom 3 – ‘Aamir-Aamir-Katrina’ in Dhoom 3.

‘That’s Anything But Sexy’ for every scene of his movie Grand Masti – Riteish Deshmukh

‘Kouting Krap With Karan’ award – Salman Khan for his famous ‘I am a virgin’ statement on the talk show Koffee with Karan.

Worst Rip-Off/Remake – Krrish 3.
